Second Suining Chongqing Railway Line Project to Start on Jan. 18

According to Chengdu railway authority, after the initiation of some railway projects such as Chengdu East Railway Station and Chengdu — Mianyang — Leshan Railway, another major project, the 2nd Suining — Chongqing Railway Line, will be started on Jan. 18, which will be the first railway project started this year. The completion of the project will reduce the travel time between Chengdu and Chongqing to 2 hours.

The total project investment is expected to reach 4,818 billion RMB; the railway line would extend 131.166 km; its average designed speed would be 200 km/h, and the highest, 260 km/h; the construction period of the project would last 3 years. The designed railway starts from Suining, where it links to Dazhou—Chengdu railway currently under expansion, and ends in Chongqing; it basically parallels the existing Suining — Chengdu Railway at almost the same altitude and is part of the Shanghai — Nanjing — Wuhan — Chongqing — Chengdu Express Railway along the Yangtze River, contributing to the convenience of 8-hour-travel from Chengdu to Shanghai.
